moon bay -- half- moon bay area. >> very, very good. he is hard working. >> ktvu news checked with the coast guard early this morning and at this point no plans are planned to resume the search. >>> the u.s. supreme court will hear arguments on two same sex marriage cases including proposition 8 california's ban on gay marriage. in san francisco today same sex marriage supporters are holding a rally and march. that starts at 6:30 this evening. in washington, d.c. people have been camped out in front of the supreme court building since thursday. they are lined up in hopes of getting one of the 250 seats set aside for the public. tomorrow the justices will hear arguments on proposition 8 and on wednesday the federal defensive marriage act. across the country emotions are strong on both sides of the issue. >>> >> the fundamental issue is whether loving and committed same sex couples who serve their country whether they should be able to take part in the fundamentally american freedom to marry. >> marriage exists to connect men and women togeth
might be connected to a shooting in hayward. ktvu channel 2 reporter tara moriarty joins us from hayward with more on this possible connection. tara. >> reporter: this is where police say that an innocent bystander could have been killed in a drive by shooting. right now police are looking at surveillance video from that gas station to see if it provides more clues. authorities believe the suspect involved in this shooting is who led them on a child chase just hours later. our cameras caught the high speed chase north on 880 through oakland late last night. police tried to pull the driver over in hayward just after 11:00 for a dui in reckless driving. the car ended up spinning out of control. police cars smashed into it to box the driver in and arrest him. officers say people in the car were throwing things out on to the roadway. they never found thosements but officers did find weapons inside the vehicle when they finally stopped. >> they pursued the vehicle all the way into oakland where it crashed on its own. the three occupants were taken to custody from there. >> reporter: police be

. ktvu channel 2 news. >>> developing news in the south bay, just a half hour ago an evacuation was lifted as they capped a natural gas leak. the leak was reported near south park victoria drive. the gas was turned off just before 4:00 and residents were let back in their homes and pg&e has not said what caused that leak. >>> the bay area has lost another soldier serving in afghanistan. he died from injuries he suffered during an attack. tell us what military officials are saying about this accident, allie? >> reporter: james griffin graduated from the high school here back in 1999 but he spent the last few years serving five tours of duty. they said griffin was injured by small arms fire in afghanistan. military officials said griffin died of his injuries this past thursday at a u.s. military off the in jeremy. they have posthumously given him the star. he is survived by his parents wife analysis and today we reached out to some members of his extended family but they have politely declined to comment. allie rasmus ktvu channel 2 morning n
